Why we build
in steel.

Every Kozzie home is built on a solid steel frame. Here is what that means for a home you intend to keep.

Every Kozzie home is a permanent dwelling.

A Kozzie home sits on permanent, engineered foundations, such as screw piers, designed for your site. That is different from a home on wheels, which is built to be towed rather than fixed to the ground. The rules that apply to each type of home differ by state and council, so confirm what applies where your land is.

Whether a home achieves Class 1a status is subject to building approvals.

A solid steel frame

The solid steel frame is the structure of every Kozzie home, built indoors in the factory.

  • Structural Integrity — Engineered for strength and stability during transport.
  • Relocatable Design — Can be moved and reinstalled at another location.

Termite resistance

A solid steel frame is not food for termites, and that applies wherever in Australia your home is built. It removes the structure of the home from the risk.

Timber elements inside a Kozzie home — skirtings, joinery, door jambs — are still detailed and protected to Australian standards. The difference is that the frame holding the roof up is never at risk.

Superior Thermal Insulation

Our homes incorporate high-quality insulation and thermal breaks to help maintain comfortable indoor temperatures year-round, from Australia's hottest summers to its coldest winters.

Steel conducts heat more readily than timber, which is why thermal breaks matter in a steel-framed wall.

  • Thermal breaks
  • Triple glazing

Structural Integrity

Steel does not warp, twist or shrink, important for a home that is trucked and craned into place.

Fire and Wind Resistance

Non-combustible steel framing, engineered for structural strength and wind resistance.

Made to Exceed Standards, Sustainable Future

Precision-engineered steel construction delivers lasting structural strength while steel's recyclability supports a more sustainable future.

The honest limitations

Steel is not automatically better than timber. It is better in specific conditions, and worse if it is built badly:

  • Without thermal breaks, a steel-framed wall underperforms a timber one. Ask any supplier to show you theirs in writing.
  • In aggressive coastal or soil environments, the corrosion-protection specification matters and should be documented.
  • Timber is renewable and stores carbon; both materials have a defensible environmental case.

We build on a solid steel frame because our homes are trucked and craned into place, because termites are a risk across Australia, and because a consistent frame suits a factory process.

Your Home.
Your Unique Building Identification Number.

Every Kozzie home has its own unique Building Identification Number (BIN). Use your BIN and the link we give you to follow photos of your own home during construction, rather than waiting until handover. Your home's build record follows six stages, in order.
